Pictures at the Hainit Hotsprings
Cebu, Philippines

We stopped off at the Hotsprings on our way back to Moalboal from Oslob.

When we had almost reached the village where the hotsprings are located we were stopped and told that the road ahead was closed for rebuilding.

We parked up and a local boy, Michael, of about 10 or 11 offered to act as our guide through the rainforest to the springs.

We set off along a dirt track and crossed a rickity village bridge and came to a small group of wood and palm thatch houses. Even though there was no road, they had electricity and even a little shop selling mobile phone top up cards.

We carried on through a couple more such villages until the path came back to the road on the other side of the road works. Here there was a slightly larger village with a couple of cafés where David got a much needed beer.

After he finished the beer we went another 100 metres along the road until we came to the hot springs. The rest of the group stripped down to their swimmers and entered the water, but as we had not brought our swimming kit we could only paddle in the water.

Leaving the others to soak, we climbed up the waterfalls beside the stream taking photographs.

After an hour or so we headed back through the forest, back to the Jeepney.

While the Jeepney was turning around we noticed that the tires were slicker than those used on a Formula 1 race car!

We resumed our journey back to Moalboal, arriving safely in spite of the condition of the tyres.
