The Journey from Moalboal, Cebu
to Leyte Dive Resort, Malitbog, Leyte

The pictures of the street scenes were taken from a moving bus, so some of them are a little bit fuzzy.

The journey took us from 14 hours. We left our accommodation in Moalboal at 7am on a tuk-tuk to the bus stop in Moalboal. After a wait of about 20 minutes we got the air-con bus to Cebu City.

At Cebu city we caught a taxi to the ferry port where David went on a tour of the ferry companies to find one that had a ferry heading to Leyte that day.

The ferry was a bit scary! It was an old cargo boat that had been converted into a passenger boat. Not a very good conversion.

As we left the harbour they play a DVD of prayers for our safe passage - David wishes they spent the money for the DVD on making the boat a bit safer.

After about 30 minutes Jo felt her bum getting wet. After a quick check she determined that it was the aircon unit over her head that was leaking water into the cusions of her seat. We scrambled out over the legs and packages of Dunkin Donuts of the other passengers and went and stood on the rear deck.

When the boat docked we got onto our allocated bus for the last leg of the journey to Malitbog.

The bus ride took almost 2 hours along dark roads, with dozens of stops to pick up more passengers.

The bus stopped right outside the door of the dive resort for us and there was a welcoming party waiting to take our bags to our room.

After we dropped our bags in our room we went to the restaurant/bar where we got a drink while we read the menu.

The next morning when we woke up we could see the dive boat floating on the sea just a few yards from our window.

The staff at Leyte Dive Resort were all very friendly and helpful and looked after us very well for the two weeks we spent with them.
