Lanzarote, Canary Islands

Pictures by Jo Spinney

November 2016.

Puerto Del Carmen, Lanzarote, Canary Islands.

Here I have decided to just put all my diving photos in one album with the dates of the dive on each picture. I will list the date and dive spot so you know where we are. So please grab a beverage and enjoy.

November 13th
  • Playa Chica - This was our check dive.
November 14th
  • Playa Blanca - This was the museum dive. Incredible day. We got to meet the designer of the sculptures, Jason Taylor, and also see some of the new pieces they are planning to put in the water. It's still really new so in a few years there will be alot more growth and alot more life in and around the statues.
November 15th
  • Dive 1 - Black Beach
  • Dive 2 - Red Cross - This was our hardest dive of the week. We went down the line and realized there was a strong current, but we were protected by the structure of the rocks. When we were finishing the dive we literally had to crawl up a sand bank digging our fingers into the sand to help us up. I've been in current before but nothing that was such a force onto your body. I almost felt like I wasn't moving but finally made it back to the line. Still it was a really good dive.
November 16th
  • Dive 1 - Old Wrecks
  • Dive 2 - Kieth's Bimble - which is a shallow brilliant little dive off the shore infront of our villas. This is where we saw sea horses and many other animals. Just a nice, relaxed dive.
November 17th
  • Dive 1 - Richie's Place
  • Dive 2 - The Cathedral
  • Dive 3 - Night Dive off Playa Chica
November 18th
  • Dive 1 - Old Wrecks
  • Dive 2 - Playa Chica - A nice final dive off of our beach

The life we saw in Lanzarote included: Seahorse, Nudibranchs, Parrotfish, Angel Sharks (Awesome), Rays, Damselfish, Octopus, Barracuda, Cuttlefish, Beautiful Tube Worms, Pufferfish, Starfish, and even a very interesting worm on the night dive that I'm investigating.
